The Near West Neighbors will be holding their monthly meeting at
Oak Crest Residence, 204 S State Street. Downstairs Cellar Pub area.
Candidate Forum Oct 16th, 2008
Please come to our Candidate Forum. It will be this Thursday, October 16th, 7PM at 325 South Street (the Light House Church). Come in the front door.
We will feature the races for the Illinois House of Representatives, 43rd District and the Kane County Board Chairmanship.
ALL concerned citizens are invited to attend! You do not need to be a resident of the Near West Neighbors Association.
At 7PM, I will publicly review the format. Written questions will be taken from the floor, gathered and given to the moderator. I will be the moderator. Then in an order determined by a coin toss, Ruth and Keith can make an opening statement. Then the moderator will read each question, with each candidate making a timed response. Usually the answers are allowed to be 2 or 3 minutes, at the moderator's discretion. We have a big double faced digital timer, so the candidates and the audience can clearly see the remaining time for each answer. At about 7:50pm, I expect we will then go to closing statements by each candidate.
At 8PM, we will have opening statements by Karen McConnaughay and Sandy Kaczmarski (order to be determined by a coin toss). Then written questions taken from the audience will be read by the moderator, with each candidate giving timed responses.
At 8:45, we will have a brief speech by Judge Patricia Golden. John Noverini will also make a brief speech, which may be at an earlier time in the evening. This is up in the air right now, because both of these candidates have prior commitments, and are trying to squeeze us in!
